Top 5: Stephen King Horror Films - Ray Taylor Show

Show topic: Stephen King's status as the master of horror is well-earned. With 88 books and counting to his name, the author's ability to tap into the human psyche and uncover what scares us the most has become uncanny — and Hollywood took notice a long time ago. Not including sequels, more than 40 films based on King's works have been made since 1976's Carrie. In 2019 alone, we got a remake of Pet Sematary, It: Chapter II, and Doctor Sleep (aka the cinematic follow-up to The Shining).

Ranked from simply scary to sleep-with-the-lights-on levels of fear, these movies all had theatrical releases (that means Salem's Lot fans are out of luck), and they all showcase exactly why King will always be the true master of horror in the realms of literature and film.

Top 5: Paranormal Activity Franchise - Ray Taylor Show

Show topic: Paranormal Activity is an American supernatural horror franchise consisting of seven films and additional media. Created by Oren Peli, the original film premiered in 2007 and was widely released in 2009.

The films are based around a family haunted by a demon that stalks, terrifies and ultimately murders several members of the family and other bystanders during the course of the films. The series makes use of production cameras set up and used like security cameras or other recording devices in an attempt to present the films as found footage.

Show topic: Jurassic Park, later also referred to as Jurassic World,[1][2][3] is an American science fiction media franchise centered on a disastrous attempt to create a theme park of cloned dinosaurs. It began in 1990 when Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment bought the rights to the novel by Michael Crichton before it was published. The book was successful, as was Steven Spielberg's 1993 film adaptation. The film received a theatrical 3D re-release in 2013,[4] and was selected in 2018 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The 1993 movie is still considered one of the greatest films of the 1990s.

Show topic: Final Destination is an American horror franchise consisting of five films, two comic books, and nine novels. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for The X-Files television series, and was distributed by New Line Cinema. All of its five films are set around a small group of people who escape impending death when one individual (the protagonist) sees a sudden premonition, who warns them they will all die in a terrible mass-casualty accident. After avoiding their foretold deaths, the survivors are killed one by one in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force creating complicated chains of cause and effect, resembling Rube Goldberg machines,[1] and then read omens sent by another unseen entity in order to again avert their deaths.
