Rayz Dayz 145: Weekly Diary Podcast with Ray Taylor - Artist, Podcaster, Business Owner

Rona DayzRay TaylorComment

Show topic: In this episode, I'll be sharing updates on my website, RTS, and YouTube. I'll be talking about the various technology issues I've been facing, including with my website and live painting recording. I'll also be sharing some of the tasks I've been able to cross off my to-do list recently, and as always, sharing something I'm thankful for.

This week, I've been focused on refreshing and upgrading my RTS formats and going digital. I've also been recording new promos for the show, which were written by my new assistant, ChatGPT. I've been working on refreshing my website and YouTube and cleaning up and organizing my site, as well as updating the page descriptions and SEO. But, I encountered an issue with the DNS record that made my site not "secure" and it took me a while to fix it, and it's still not resolved yet.

I also had some issues with my iPhone, which I use to record the second camera angle for Live Painting. The phone ran out of space and I had to do a factory reset to fix it. I'm also really thankful for the TV show Bob's Burgers, which I've been watching as a background show while I edit or to wind down at the end of the day. It's a positive, funny, and low maintenance show that I enjoy watching.

"Rayz Dayz" is a weekly diary podcast hosted by Ray Taylor. Each episode features Ray recapping his week, sharing updates on his journey as an artist, podcaster, and business owner. At the end of every episode, Ray reflects on something he is thankful for and encourages his listeners to do the same. "Rayz Dayz" is released every Saturday as part of the "Ray Taylor Show," providing listeners with a weekly dose of inspiration and positivity. Tune in to follow along with Ray's journey and find your own source of gratitude each week.

Story 1: In an interview with Variety, Director James Cameron expressed his belief that movies should be seen in theaters and not through streaming services, stating "enough with the streaming already! I’m tired of sitting on my ass." He also addressed the success of Avatar 2, which grossed over $1.7 billion, and the upcoming Avatar 3, 4 and 5 films. However, many critics argue that Cameron is out of touch with the current state of technology and how people consume media in 2023, with the convenience and increased quality of home viewing options.

Story 2: Discover the incredible story behind the visual effects in the film "Everything Everywhere All at Once." A small team of self-taught artists, led by Zak Stoltz, took on the challenge of creating the VFX for the film using only online tutorials and programs like After Effects. The team's unique approach to VFX, breaking industry standards and prioritizing personal and handmade techniques, resulted in a one-of-a-kind final product. Learn about the team's struggles and successes and how they believe that going off the beaten path can lead to greater creativity and imagination in the film industry.

Story 3: Protests against the presidency of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil's capital, Brasília, turned violent as thousands of demonstrators stormed government buildings and vandalized iconic works of art. Former leader Jair Bolsonaro has falsely claimed that Lula had stolen the election and refused to concede, leading to the destruction of priceless pieces of art by Brazilian modernists such as Emiliano Di Cavalcanti and Oscar Niemeyer. The Brazilian government has condemned the violence and destruction, and have stated that the value of the destroyed art is incalculable due to the historical significance it represents.
