The film explores themes of grief, loss, identity, and the often-strange ways people cope with loss. It is characterized by Lanthimos' signature style of deadpan humor, surrealism, and unconventional storytelling.

Coming in at number 4, we have The Lobster, a 2015 absurdist black comedy drama film set in a hotel where single people have 45 days to find a partner or be turned into an animal of their choice. The film is a commentary on societal pressure to find a partner and the absurdity of romantic compatibility.

At number 3, we have Dogtooth, a 2009 psychological drama film about a husband and wife who keep their three adult children isolated from the outside world. The film is a commentary on the dangers of extreme parental control and the power of language and indoctrination.
