Story 1 (00:01:15): The North Dakota Senate has rejected a bill to provide free school lunches for students from low-income families. Instead, they have increased meal budgets for state employees, including themselves. The bill would have provided free lunches for students from families at 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The rejected bill would have cost $6 million for two years. In contrast, the meal budget increase for state employees will cost $1 million over two years.
