YouthMin: Movie Review from the Ray Taylor Show

MoviesRay TaylorComment

Show topic: Join Ray Taylor as he reviews the 2018 mockumentary “YouthMin”. YouthMin offers an honest perspective of youth group culture with Christian references, sex-talks, and camp nostalgia. Led by an out-of-date youth pastor with good intentions and a horrible soul patch, the movie examines the weird, hysterical, and deep moments that define Christian Camp. With a cast and crew of New England-based designers, improvisers, and storytellers, YouthMin is a low-budget indie film that is loosely inspired by the creators' own experiences growing up in a youth group. The film sheds light on one dysfunctional youth group's attempts to combat an obnoxious leader, and the unexpected challenges they face.  YouthMin film produced by  First Names Films

Story 1 (00:03:10): A robocall obtained by Tennessee Holler has raised questions and made false allegations about what happened inside the Tennessee Capitol on March 30. The call was allegedly produced by Enlight Tennessee, a conservative advocacy group. The automated voice called for the expulsion of three state representatives and accused them of being "radical activists." However, the Tennessee Highway Patrol denied any reports of angry mobs or confiscation of pipe bombs or brass knuckles at the Capitol that day. Learn more about this controversial robocall in this news report.

Story 2 (00:22:03): The Missouri House has voted against a proposal to ban minors from openly carrying firearms on public land without adult supervision. The measure failed by a 104-39 vote, with only one Republican supporting it. Democratic Rep. Donna Baringer explained that police had requested the change to prevent children from walking around with firearms in public areas. However, Republicans argued that the ban would infringe on gun rights and that it was not appropriate to charge people with crimes based on assumptions. The measure was part of an ongoing debate on the best ways to fight crime in St. Louis.

Story 3 (00:35:27): During the protests of 2020, Portland police used tear gas at harmful levels. A new study by Forensic Architecture reveals the amount of tear gas that was deployed during the infamous "Tear Gas Tuesday" of June 2, 2020. In this video, we take a closer look at the study's findings and the impact of tear gas on the protesters and residents of Portland.
